Welcome!

What is 'My Jewish Journey'?

"My Jewish Journey" is the journey of  Wim Leydes,: a journey through (Jewish) history.
Wim, as a young boy, growing up in the Netherlands got taught about the Holocaust and the dark period of WWII.
This started what became a lifetime of interest, studying, researching and collecting.
Over the last 15 years this interest has expanded to Jewish history of the last 100 years, and he gained an admiration,
for the Jewish people, the survivors and the heroes and is committed to keep their memories and stories alive.

He wrote four books about this journey, did presentations, created exhibits, contributed research to various museums
both in the
US and Israel, visited the land of Israel, met and communicated with several survivors,
fighters and various other people related to the topics he was studying.
All of these experiences are shared with you, the reader, in a journal style
, and places you right
at his side as he learns and explores.
Documented and narrated by himself, writing as he
researched these captivating stories of history makes
for an exciting, personal and educational reading experience.

The journey still goes on as he keeps researching history and will take him further on this path
as he remains very active in what he calls his '(Jewish) Journey'.

To Honor, Remember, Educate and Share.

My latest book, which I finished in the fall/winter of 2020/2021, was my 4th one. It contains parts of the 3rd book about

my own family but has tons of added information. I wrote this book in Dutch, as it is about my own family and

written for them.

I'm proud to have finished this as it contains much information, photographs and documents I never knew about,

nor did most of my family. It turns out I had 3 resistance fighters in my own family, 2 brothers and a son.

One was executed by the Germans in 1941, His brother was sent to Buchenwald Concentration Camp

for 4 years and unfortunately none survived the war.

Both my grandfathers fought against the Germans as well, as part of the Dutch Army in 1940.

They were captured later in the war during the November 1944 roundup in Rotterdam,

and taken to Germany for forced labor.

You never seem to stop to amaze me with your energy and love of Israel. Thank you for all that you do for the Jewish people. God Bless You, Kol Hakavod!

(Orna Even Parker, Jerusalem)

I appreciate very much, what you all did, what you are doing.

Very nice, I am very impressed with you.

(Faye Lazebnik Schulman, Partisan fighter, Canada)

Your curiosity, tenacity, and pursuit of truth and history is inspiring. You are a rare individual and person to be admired. No doubt you know more about Jewish Israeli history in the 20th century than most Jews. You are a special and unforgettable person. You have earned the status of a true 'Mensch'.

(Nina Edelman, Milwaukee)

With deepest appreciation for your love of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, we are most fortunate God has placed you in our midst. Most assuredly, your soul shines brightly in a world in which there is darkness. May G-d bless you.

(Debbie Bylan, Milwaukee)
